Genesis of the Jake Sloan Adventures, tribute to Frank Peretti

Not many know that Jake is named after Dr. Jacob Cooper, one of Dr. Jim Sloan's old friends.  A fun connection to Peretti's original stories.

Excerpt from the Acknowledgements in Trident's Flame:

"Finally, thanks to Mr. Frank Peretti.  It was his Dr. Cooper family adventures (an eight-book series) that inspired me to embark on this road.  I must have read his stories to my kids a half-dozen times during their tween & teen years.  (Incidentally, the main character is affectionately named after an old friend and colleague of Jake’s father:  Dr. Jacob Cooper.)  My kids and I kept waiting for the ninth book to come out.  We wanted to see if Dr. Cooper would ever remarry.  Would Jay and Lila have a tough time accepting her?  What would be their next adventure?
Alas, it was not to be.  Yet it was such a pleasure to have quality adventure material available, and for kids who were newly discovering the joys of reading.  We will forever be thankful for Mr. Peretti’s work, parents and kids alike!  The Jake Sloan Adventures are my humble attempt to continue the tradition of creating engaging, encouraging adventure literature for teens and young adults."

Here is the cover for one of Peretti's novels in the Cooper Family Adventures.

If you are a teen, "tween" or a parent with teens or tweens, this series is worth the read.  Please take a look.
